Frequently asked questions

Everything that we talk about in sessions is confidential unless a legal context comes into play that requires an exception to be made (child welfare; expressed risk of harm to self or others; court-order). Also, I work with a supervisor who will occasionally review sessions or session notes as part of my commitment to ongoing professional responsibility and development. She is bound by confidentiality as well. Video sessions are recorded and stored on a secure site (Owl Practice) only for as long as is necessary to support my work with the supervisor or to construct session notes.

I accept e-transfers or credit card payments. In addition, I am able to work with clients through the Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) for First Nations' and Inuit people.

I do not work with insurance companies directly but can give you a receipt with my OCSWSSW registration number that can be used to submit your fee for reimbursement. People who face economic hardship due to systemic oppression, disability, illness or underemployment can request access to a limited sliding scale fee. Such requests would be addressed on a case by case basis.

Every effort will be made to accommodate your scheduling needs however, once booked, it would be important to provide at least 24 hours’ notice of cancellation or rescheduling. Without such notice, the full session fee could be charged. Emergencies can happen and, in such circumstances, the cancellation fee could be waived. Such situations would be addressed on a case by case basis.

Video sessions will take place via the Owl Practice encrypted network which offers zoom links and recording. Once you send me an email requesting an initial consultation, either phone or zoom, you would be sent an online intake form that will address consent and history of the problem as well as strengths and preferred therapeutic modalities. Session links will be provided by email at least 24 hours prior to the appointment.

I am happy to offer a brief consulting appointment with anyone seeking help. If I am not a good fit, I am able to offer referrals to counsellors licensed in Ontario who I believe would meet your needs more effectively. Don’t hesitate to reach out. Finding safe spaces is important!
