I am a mature, queer, settler who has lived with my partner for more than 30 years in Thunder Bay ON, situated on the land of the Fort William (Anemki Wajou) First Nation, signatory to the Robinson-Superior Treaty of 1850.  Psychotherapy is a second career which I took up after being a high school and university educator.  Community and allyship are very important to me as I think each of us is stronger when we lean into collaboration, coalition building and connection to the land.

An avid paddler and snowshoer, I like to spend as much of the year as possible at the land in Kaministiquia that we call “Philosopher’s Point”.  You see pictures from that place posted throughout the website.  I am a cancer survivor who found strength and perspective in developing my connection to the land and water.  I am happy to draw upon an array of therapeutic modalities but believe that all of them must be addressed through strength-based, narrative, and relational engagement.

I honour the teachings and teachers, both professional and personal, that have led me to the work of psychotherapy and present some of the most influential of these in a section titled “Honouring” on this website.
